Nursing interventions are the actions and actual treatment that are conducted to assist the patients to arrive at the goals that are placed on them (Bulechek, Butcher, Dochterman, & Wagner, 2013). Nurses use their experience, knowledge, and critical thinking skills to make a decision on the interventions that will aid the patient most. Computer technologies have assisted many people, since it enables them to do research on topics and issues for better understanding. Although, this has been a challenging issue for nurses, since some of them don’t conduct research in their field of practice. Research is typically not amongst the traditional roles of an entry-level nurse. The majority of the nurses are concerned with either administrative aspects of health care or direct patients care. This essay will discuss the lack of understanding of the nursing interventions due to an absence of conducting research on them and strategies to be executed in order to solve the problem.

Nursing research is a rising field where people within the profession can contribute a diversity of experiences and skills to the science of nursing. Research plays a significant role in ensuring effective nursing care. For nurses to understand the interventions, they need to do a proper study, so that they can know the pros and cons of the interventions. However, due to the lack of adequate knowledge on the information technology and absence of the integration of computer technology to the nursing curriculum development, they end up not researching, hence, lacking understanding of the intervention.

Research is vitally significant in the field of nursing, and, in the case of trials in clinics, is obligatory by law for the innovative pharmaceuticals. Research on interventions by nurses permits the assessment of certain practical or theoretical approaches by comparing with others. It presents a continual growth in the respiratory of knowledge with practical applications directly. The dearth of research by nurses will lead to them making less informed decisions, since each stage of the nursing process is elucidated through research. Their professional accountability to their clients will not be demonstrated when they fail to integrate research evidence into their decisions in the nursing practice, hence, it means noncompliance from the nurses.

Research enables effective treatment of patients, since it permits nurses to understand particular situations which have less information leading to a proper assessment of the need for the interventions and proper recognition of factors to be put into consideration in planning nursing care. Lack of conducting a research leads to nurses being ignorant on some nursing situations where little information is known resulting to nurses’ inability in assessing the necessity for an intervention and identification of factors that are to be considered during planning in nursing care. When they fail to conduct research they will not get adequate information significant to their practice which will enable them to evaluate the need for the required interventions to solve their patient’s ailments. This will lead to problems of re-hospitalization and lack of health standards enhancements of individuals in the hospitals.

For nurses to be effective and efficient in their practice they should be able to predict probable results of their decisions, control the occurrence of outcomes which are undesired, and instigate activities to encourage suitable client behaviors. However, the absence of conducting research will result in the inability of nurses to forecast the possible outcomes of their verdicts leading to the incapability of managing the occurrence of the unwanted results. This will finally lead to ineffectiveness and inefficiency of the nurses in their practice (Edwards, Hawker, Carrier, & Rees, 2015). Problems of inefficacious affect both the nurses and clients in this case, since the patients will not get the desired treatment for their various health conditions and the clients will end up spending more time in the hospitals which are expensive, but no improvement will be observed. This is in contrary to the belief in nursing practice where nurses should promote lives and good health.

Research is important for understanding the actual actions and treatments which are executed to assist the patients in achieving the goals that are set for them, that is interventions, used in the nursing practice, which are vital for nurses to ensure their compliance. This shows the importance of coming up with the correct interventions to aid patients in improving their health status (Button, Harrington, & Belan, 2014). Health institutions should develop strategies to ensure nurses develop appropriate interventions which they have done based on adequate research, hence, have good understanding of them. Strategies to be used in this case should include placing compulsory teaching days once per quarter year on basic nursing interventions and importance of conducting research on the interventions, ensuring testing and following up on what was learned from the employee.

Introducing mandatory classes to educate the nurses on the basic nursing interventions after every four months will make the nurses knowledgeable and have adequate information used to decide on the effective interventions to be executed when needed. The classes will enable them to have required skills which will assist them in conducting efficient and effective research on interventions before they execute them resulting to the development of better interventions which will yield the desired outcomes and clients satisfactory. The classes will emphasize on the use of computer technology to carry out research, so as to ensure evidence based practice which will enlighten the nurses on ways to develop the interventions (Edwards et al., 2015).

The health institutions should ensure testing of the understanding of nurses on the interventions taught. The institutions should ensure critical examination, observation, assessment or trial of the nurses on the taught topics, for instance, they should be tested on their understanding of the basic interventions and computer technologies. Testing will enable the health institutions to know, if the nurses understood what they were taught and, maybe, some topics should be stressed on. Testing will provide a higher objectivity and broader scope; it will allow the typical missteps and difficulties of the nurses to be discovered. The test will present the opportunity for self-study and evaluation.

Health institutions should ensure follow-ups after the training period, so as to examine whether the nurses are utilizing what they were taught and their understanding level. Follow-ups should be done randomly without the knowledge of the nurses, since this will keep them concentrated and ensure that they comply with their practice. All nurses should have specific clinical supervisors who should have the ability to tailor the level of management to the confidence, experience, and competence of their trainee. This will enable the health institution to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the nurses making the institution aware on where to assist them for better performance. Following up on what was learned from the employee will affect their performance positively; for instance, enable development of proper interventions which, when used, sequels to the desired outcomes.

Conclusively, the practice based on computer and technology researches are likely to result in the preferred patients’ results across a variety of geographical locations and settings. Developing appropriate intervention is necessary, since it leads to compliance from nurses. However, some nurses develop inappropriate interventions which they fail to understand due to lack of researching on them (Button et al., 2014). Therefore, health institutions need to implement some strategies which will prevent this problem from occurring: the institutions can educate the nurses on the basic interventions and ways of developing them by use of the computer technology, it can also conduct tests and follow up supervisions to ensure that the nurses understood what they were taught and are executing the appropriate interventions.
